A fantastic return trip to Hawkstone Park for our weekend away. The two courses were in excellent condition and as challenging as ever. The hotel staff were organised and friendly and the food was very good.

The weather was … toasty … but at least we didn’t have a repeat of the thunderstorms that interupted our play the last time we were here!

Alan & John were given a double room instead of a twin, as did Steve and Keith. Andrew J was awarded the braces for driving through a Par 4 and nearly hitting the group in front (who had finished the hole).

On Saturday, Duncan won the 30th Anniversary Roger Nicholls Trophy with 34 on count back from Julian, Lee, Graham R and Mark. A close result that shows that the society handicap system is working.

On Sunday, the Seniors Trophy was won by Alan E and the Teng Tools by Pete J.

On Monday, everyone played for the Chairman’s Shield, which was won by Linda C with an impressive 40 points!

The combined highest score over Sun/Mon was for the NGS 10th Anniversary and this was won by Linda C. As well as walking away with the inaugral Best Lady Golfer.

We also played for the Captain vs Vice Captain and that was won by the Vice.

JC hosted our annual putting competition after dinner on Sunday, raising a significant amount of money for this year’s charity.

An excellent weekend away.
