Wow! What a privilege to be captain of the NGS, especially in its 30th anniversary year – an amazing achievement for any village Golfing Society.

I would like to congratulate Steve Crosthwaite on his fantastic year as Captain and I am delighted to now take on the mantle and challenge.

I am sure we will have a great season ahead with new courses to play and with our membership now at 50+ golfers.

In June we are returning to Greetham Valley which was the venue for the 15th & 25th NGS anniversaries and I hope many of you are able to join us for what will be a memorable weekend.

When you become Vice-Captain or Captain and attend the monthly committee meetings you begin to understand the amount of work that goes into this ‘well oiled’ machine, and I would like to thank the committee for making it such a pleasure to play in this Society.

This year, I am nominating as the NGS Captain’s charity:

MOLLY OLLYS WISHES

In its 12th year this Warwick based charity supports children with life-threatening illnesses, and their families, and helps with their emotional wellbeing.

They do this by providing gifts to individuals and donating therapeutic toys and books to children directly and to hospitals throughout the UK.

I have been supporting this important charity for over 5 years, and I’ll be telling you more about them later.

Yours sincerely,

Jon Thorne
