I was so pleased and honoured when Graham asked me to become his Vice-Captain, so may I start by saying I can only hope to carry out the role of Captain as well as he has. Graham has done a tremendous job.

With any new year comes new hope – a drop in handicap or to win a competition perhaps, but my
main hope is that everyone playing in any 2023 NGS Golf Society day out has a great time, meets and makes new friends, and plays to the best of their abilities!!

Crucial to the success of any organisation is the Committee who work so very hard on all our behalf, so I’d like to give a huge vote of thanks to those who spend many hours of their time making sure we have great competitions and fabulous venues to play at.

Each year a Captain nominates a charity. This year, I am nominating a Warwickshire based charity set up by a young lady I know after the tragic death of her son, Freddie.

Freddie’s Wish raises money to help families access bereavement support services, and also runs regular Paediatric First Aid courses which are free to attend.

You’ll be hearing more of the work they do as the year goes on.

Sincerely,

Steve Crosthwaite
