Whetstone…or perhaps it should have been Wet-stone. It started off all sunny, but the weather forecast was for heavy showers as the day went on. Unfortunately, they were correct. The one benefit of the rain is the effect it has on speed of play. No-one wants to spend too much time eyeing up a putt, when there is the protection of an umbrella not too far away! Despite the rain, the Whetstone Course played well for October, the welcome was a good as ever and the members enjoyed the day. Especially Doss, who managed to conquer the Bogey Competition and win convincingly. That has led to a 2 stroke playing handicap cut, which is a shame as he is my partner for the pairs at Ullesthorpe…
