A great turnout for this years Captain’s Charity Day at Stoneleigh.
28 pairs of member and guest turned out to enjoy a social game of golf, but to also support Parkinson’s UK .
The day consisted of an opening Putting Competition, then on to the higher mathematics of the triple Scorecard for 18 holes!
There was the overall pairs competition, which was won by Andrew B and his guest Wayne M.
There was also at the same time a team competition, which was won by our Captain Simon, along with Shay B, Andy R and Mervyn S. Nice team selection Simon! – Ed.
And finally, there was the infamous Yellow Ball competition. The feeling of dred when it’s your turn to play with it on a hole with water and the rest of your team would rather prefer you didn’t lose it! Congratulations to Martin T, Roger N, Sarah H and Julie R for keeping their cool.
A special mention for JC, who managed the shortest 1st Tee drive of the day and failed to manage to reach the Ladies Tee!

On to the evening, and everyone met up at the Green Man pub. After plenty of drinking and food buffet, it was on to the Auction. David C kept the proceedings as enjoyable as ever and there were some very generous bids for the items on offer. All that was then left to do was to draw the Raffle, the results of which can be found in a seperate page on this site.

Final figures have yet to be confirmed, but it seems that the fundraising total this year is in excess of £7,000 !

That is a marvelous credit to this year’s Captain and the efforts of all the Society and the generosity of all those involved.

Special mention to Peter and Chris Cornish of Glass D Sign who sponsored the Lovely Prizes.
