An impressive field of 28 pairs turned out for this year’s Captain’s Charity Day, which I believe is a record.

There were the usual competitions (Pairs, Fours, Yellow Ball), along with a Putting Competition and Longest Drive with an old style wooden club.

Congratulations to Keith M and Mervyn S who won the pairs with a combined score of 46 points. Also, congratulations to Simon C, Graham J, Lee P and Andy R, who won the 4 Ball.

The infamous yellow ball competition was won by Steve B, Nigel K, Graham R, and Rob W. Our groups yellow ball didn’t make it past the heavy rough on the 7th hole!

Martin regretted his choice of yellow shirt and proceeded to attract more flies than England had for their match in Russia the night before! Fortunately, he carries a selection of colours and proceeded to change into Purple instead.

After the golf was completed, it was down the Green Man for buffet, beer, prizes, beer, auction, beer, raffle and … beer.

Mr Cobley was extremely funny, running the auction whilst standing on a picnic bench and shouting. Who needs a PA System when you have David around!

Final totals still have to be worked out, but we believe Danny has raised over £6,000 for Marie Curie from his hard work this year.

Well done Captain, enjoy your cruise!
