The weather forecast for the trip to The Abbey wasn’t looking good. Waking up to heavy rain didn’t bode well either, and yet we had a pretty dry round for the societies first visit to this course.

The course was in excellent shape and the drainage was working well. There were no puddles to be seen, not even in the bunkers.

I played in a group with AJ, who seems to have developed a obsession with JD. Everytime he hit a good shot he would say “John Dunbar” in a strange accent. Bad shots were met by “Danny Gleeson”.

I was getting some grief off of my playing partners. Despite 3 blobs, I managed to scrabble results and ended up with 4 birdies in the round. Danny G was playing with us and he was silently going about his business to the point that with 2 holes to go he was leading me on points. However, after a quiet period, I returned to my lucky ways to finish on 37 points with Danny on 35.

This result wasn’t so lucky for my handicap. Lee took great pleasure in reducing me from 13 to 11 !
